Plate relations to face plates

The system determines the connection type for plate-to-face plate relations similarly than for plate-to-profile relations when it applies automatic plate beveling. See Plate relations to profiles. Some situations involving face plates specifically are described below.

The connection type is either connection to a part in plan view or connection to a part in cross-section.

The plate can have an angle to the face plate. In this case the system adjusts the plate size to prevent gaps and overlaps in the connection. See Automatic plate size adjustment.

The bevel that is applied in each case is defined in plate beveling rules. See Plate beveling rules.

Plate related to face plate on plate in plan view

When the plate is related to a face plate on a plate in plan view, and the plate is connected to the face plate somewhere in the body of the face plate, the connection is considered to be a connection in cross-section.

Plate related to a face plate in plan view

When the plate is related to the top or bottom of the face plate in plan view, the connection type depends on whether the plate is related to the body or flange of the face plate.

  • When the plate is related to the body of the face plate and plate plane is in line with the body, the connection considered to be a connection in plan view.

  • When the plate is related to the flange of the face plate, the connection considered to be a connection in cross-section.
