Report translations

This help topic explains the aspects associated with report translations.

  • By default, the reports are printed out in the project's design language: Project settings > Common.

  • The used translation dictionary is defined in Project settings > Translation.

  • You can translate the fields defined as fields to translate into other languages for the report (for example, Devices > Device text1). Naturally, the translation dictionary must have an equivalent translation in the appropriate language.

    Example: Electrical.dict.xls (C:\ProgramData\CADMATIC\Draw [version number] English\Menu)

  • When you choose a report in another language, an _X field is recorded next to the translatable fields in the report tool, e.g. Device text1_X field (see the above figure), showing the translation of the translatable field. If no translation can be found in the dictionary, the field remains empty.

  • However, $Device text 1$ is linked to the Report template instead of $Device text 1_X$.

  • Translations for terms missing from the dictionary can be searched in the project using the Translation table request function to record those words in an Excel file, for which no translation could be found in the dictionary. Then you know which translations you have to add to the dictionary before making reports in other languages.
