Data exchange
Projects are split into blocks, general project data, hull line subsets and Plantek, and these can all be saved to the COS server separately. You can also select to get and save only the construction data, which is faster than getting and saving all block data.
The data exchange between sites happens via the Check Out/In dialog that is accessible from the Hull applications and System Management. When the dialog is opened from System Management, the basic project data objects (shape, norms, project general) can also be exchanged. If you are dealing with several projects, you can open the Check Out/In dialog for the selected projects in System Management > Projects > Project Management Centre without switching from one project to another. For more information on the Check Out/In dialog, see Check Out and Check In Operations.
In the Check Out/In dialog, the buttons are enabled or disabled according to the selections; actions allowed for at least one of the selected items are enabled. If more than one item is selected, actions will only be performed to the items for which those actions are allowed. For example, if you select a block checked out to another site and a block that is not checked out and then click Check Out, only the second block is checked out.
Standard operations
Getting construction from COS
With the Get construction operation, it is possible to get the latest construction database changes from COS without getting all block data. Only the attachment containing construction data is downloaded and unpacked, which makes the operation faster. All non-attachment data (such as block attributes) are downloaded and stored locally.
Saving construction to COS
With the Save construction operation, it is possible to save the construction database to COS faster without saving all block data. Only the construction data is then packed and uploaded as an attachment; the other block attachments will not be changed. Drawings, part models, and DXF files containing coded parts, for example, are not saved when using this operation.
The following objects will be stored to COS:
-
The construction parts are uploaded as Hull Construction Part objects, along with the data from the cgf files.
-
The welds present in each construction part are uploaded as Weld objects.
-
The Work Breakdown Structure is stored as Model Group objects.
The data will be available in Plant Modeller after saving. However, to have the Work Breakdown Structure and custom attributes available, you need to send the settings to Outfitting beforehand. See Send Settings.
