Text Properties

Presentation > Text/Dimension > Text Properties

Define the default values for text properties. Text properties are grouped into item groups. The properties are set separately for each item group.

Note: Text properties are block-specific. The properties for each block can be set in the 2D-Contek, 3D-Contek, and Shell applications, in the Text Properties tab of the Tools > Settings > More Settings Functions > Block Properties function.
The default values are defined here, and they can be applied to the active block by clicking the Default button in the Text Properties tab of the Block Properties function in the 2D-Contek, 3D-Contek, and Shell applications.

Item Groups for Text Properties

Text properties can be set for the following item groups:

  • Attribute Text – Settings for text that is placed as an attribute of a 3D item. Attribute texts are added using the Draw > Text function, in the Attribute tab.

  • Bracket – Settings for the dimension arrow type and arrow size of bracket part labels.

  • Centreline/Baseline – Settings for the centerline and baseline indication line texts.

Also contains enlargement factor for the distance between the frame indication line and the frame number, and multiplication factors for the frame indication line length of numbered lines and non-numbered lines.

  • Corner Hole Dimension – Settings for corner hole dimension texts.

  • Detail Symbol – Settings for the title text and symbol text of construction detail symbols. Construction detail symbols are added with the Home > Create > Construction Detail function.

  • Dimension – Settings for the text and indication line arrow of the Dimension part label type.

  • Free text – Settings for text that is placed as free text. Free texts are added with the Draw > Text > function, in the Free tab.

Also the reference points texts in work breakdown 3D sketches use these settings.

  • Hole Dimension – Settings for the hole dimension texts.

  • Man Hole Dimension – Settings for the man hole dimension texts.

  • Model – Settings for the text and indication line arrow of the Number part label type.

  • Section Symbol – Settings for the section symbol texts. Section symbols are added with the Draw > Symbols > Section Symbol function.

  • Shellview – Settings for the marking texts shown in shell views along hull lines.

Also used for the texts of jig pillar height markings. These are added with the Draw > Dimension > More Dimension > Jig Pillar Heights function in the Shell application.

  • Short/Chain Dimension – Settings for the texts in short and chain dimensions.

  • Standard Text – Settings for standard texts. Standard texts are added with the Draw > Text > function, in the Standard tab.

  • Text – Settings for predefined texts. Predefined texts are added with the Draw > Text > function, in the Predefined tab.

Also used for the text and indication line arrow of the Text part label type.

  • Titlefield – Settings for the texts in the titlefield of sheet drawings.

Note: Only the Enlarge property setting (enlargement factor) is used for this item group. The rest of the text properties of the titlefield's text fields are set with the System Mangement > Drawings > Sheet Drawings > Titlefield Layout settings, in the Text properties dialog.

  • Vane – Settings for the wind vane (axes marker) texts and arrows. These are the texts and arrows along the length, breadth, and height axes of the vane symbol, and the text indicating the centre line.

  • Weld Text – Settings for the weld code texts along a weld symbol. Weld symbols are placed with the Construction > Welds > Symbols/Dimensions > Symbols function.

Text Property Settings

Text property settings are defined for each drawing scale separately.

Note: The color of text cannot be changed here for those items that have been placed on the keepcolour layer in the part model. See Fix Part Label Colours for more information.

The text property settings are as follows. Note that all properties not are available for all item groups.

  • Scale – Drawing scale. The scale value must be numeric, larger than 0, and increase from left to right. A maximum of 9 scales can be defined.

  • Height – The character height of the text. The actual height depends on the scale. An absolute text height in mm can be set by using the A character directly following the value. For example, 5A. Without the A character, the value is a multiplication factor for the scale value.

Note that the height of texts in part labels is not set here, but taken from the text fields in the part label models.

  • Ratio (W/H Ratio in the text property settings in Block Properties) – The width-to-height ratio of the text.

Note that the width-to-height ratio of texts in part labels is not set here, but taken from the text fields in the part label models.

  • Underline – Whether the text is underlined or not (Yes/No).

  • Font 1 – The font used for the text. Select the font from the drop-down menu.

  • Pen 1 – The pen used for the first line of text in a text field. Select the pen from the from drop-down menu.

In the Dimension, Model and Text item groups, the pen used for the header text of the part label.

  • Pen 2 – The pen used for the second line of text field in cases where the system automatically adds a second line.

In the Dimension, Model and Text item groups, the pen used for the text of the part label other than the header.

  • Pen 3 – Present only in the Dimension, Model and Text item groups. Sets the pen number for the indicator line of the part label model.

  • Enlarge – Defines an enlargement factor for an item (text or dimension, for example).

In the Centreline/Baseline item group, defines a multiplication factor for the distance between the frame indication line and the frame number.

  • Arrow type – Arrow type of the dimension or indication line.

For brackets, the setting in the Bracket item group is used.

  • Arrow size – Arrow size of the dimension or indication line.

For brackets, the setting in the Bracket item group is used.

  • Line factor – Defines a multiplication factor for the length of the frame indication line, applicable to numbered lines. Present only in the Centreline/Baseline item group.

  • Line factor n.n – Defines a multiplication factor for the length of the frame indication line, applicable to non-numbered lines. Present only in the Centreline/Baseline item group.
