Changing the block area and description

When a block is predefined at the main site, the block name, block area, and description are set. These values can be modified later in System Management > Projects > Building Block Overview.

The block area is used in the presentation of a block in the 2D- and 3D-Contek applications. The system compares it with the construction area within a drawing to check that no construction items are fully or partly outside the block area. If a construction item is found to be outside the block area, you can manually adjust the block area values.

The block area is defined for each drawing in its plane. In depth the construction area is defined by the biggest visibility setting value. When the system searches for adjacent blocks, only blocks visible within the block area are taken into account. It is important to set the values for block area and visibility correctly. Otherwise there may be a decrease in performance if too many blocks are searched.

If the block area is completely outside the ship, it will not be presented in the 3D-Contek application.

Note: The comparison between the block area and construction area is not done when the block has been opened in browser mode.

In COS (distributed) projects, the changes are applied at other sites only when the block is saved and downloaded after replication.
