File menu
The File menu of P&ID contains general application commands for managing diagrams. Many of these commands can also be found in the Manage diagrams tool. Some of the commands are enabled only when a diagram is checked out and active.

New – Creates a new diagram. See New.

Open – Allows opening a diagram in either "browse" or "edit" mode. The browse mode does not check out the document from COS.

Save locally – Saves the diagram in the local computer.

Save to COS database – Saves the diagram in COS. You are prompted whether to also check in the diagram and update the diagram data in integrated applications (Plant Modeller, Electrical).

Manage diagrams – Opens the Manage Diagrams dialog where you can create, edit, and delete diagram documents.

Export – Opens the Export 2D Drawing dialog for exporting the active diagram into a file. See Export.

Print – Allows printing the active diagram or a selected region from the diagram.

Document – Contains the commands listed in Document.

Environment – Opens a menu with the following options:
- All Library and Project – Opens the Project Environment dialog (object browser) where you can manage project data.
- Systems and Lines – Opens the Systems & Lines dialog where you can see and edit all currently defined Systems and Lines (pipelines, ductlines, cable trays) and create new ones. See Systems and Lines.
- 2D Symbols – Opens an object browser dialog for managing the 2D Symbols used in the P&ID application.

Options – Opens the Options dialog where you can manage application settings. See Options.

Exit – Closes the P&ID application. If a diagram has unsaved changes, you are prompted to select how to proceed.

Yes – Before closing the application, the diagram is saved locally, and optionally also these actions are performed:

Update also COS database – Select this option to also save the diagram in COS.

Check in the diagram – Select this option to check in the diagram.

Update integrations – Select this option to update the diagram data in integrated applications (Plant Modeller, Electrical).

No – The application is closed without saving your changes.

Cancel – The application remains open.
