Inserting bevels

Bevels can be added automatically once the system administrator has defined the configuration files to suit the requirements of the project. See Bevel configuration files for more information for the system administrator.

Manual beveling

Bevels can be placed manually with the following functions:

  • 3D-Contek application : Construction >Items > Bevels > Insert

  • Shell application: Construction > Insert > Single Bevel

Automatic beveling

Bevels can be placed automatically on plates, brackets, and cutouts and lugs without any input from the user.

Bevels on profiles require some input from the user. For profile base lines, running the Bevel Generator will apply bevels automatically across the entire block. Bevel Generator will also update any automatically created bevels in case the system administrator has updated the configuration files.

For profile end types, the bevels must be added manually by the user because of the extra attention to detail required in these situations. For profile end shapes this is done using the Construction > Profiles > Modify > Green function. For face plates this is done using the Construction > Face Plates > Modify > Green function. For other situations where more detail needs to be specified, bevels can also be added manually on other construction items. Manually added bevels will not be overwritten by automatic beveling processes. Bevels can be inserted manually in the Hull application using the Construction > Bevels > Insert > Bevels and Single Bevel functions.

Welds between parts

Welds placed between parts are based on the weld information contained in the bevel attribute.

A single weld is placed between parts that have a planar connection. For the weld, the system considers the bevel attributes of the two parts. Weld information is taken from the bevel attribute which is the more complex one.
